Why Afforrestation?
As a result of the increased use of fossil fuels as an energy source and the excessive release of carbon into the atmosphere, consequently the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has increased excessively and unnaturally. As a result of this increase, the phenomenon of global warming has occurred, which gradually increases its effect and causes climate changes throughout the world. According to the results of scientific research conducted worldwide so far, our only weapon in combating the problem of excessive carbon emission to the atmosphere, which has become the most important problem of humanity, in other words, the problem of global warming, is to increase the presence of trees, which are the most important carbon sequestrant. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to plant more saplings than cut across the world, that is, afforestation work.
“Why is afforestation important? Why are we afforestation?" In addition to the general answer given above to the question, local effects and results of afforestation studies carried out in our country should also be briefly addressed. Accordingly, the afforestation works to be carried out in our country;
Afforestation works are carried out primarily on the lands belonging to the state such as forest, carpet, non-agricultural reserves etc. However, in case of demand, afforestation works can be carried out in green areas belonging to municipalities and highway medians. In cases where citizens demand afforestation on their private lands, free forest tree sapling provision and technical support are provided by the Forestry Department. Regarding the places where afforestation areas will be established, firstly the afforestation of the fire-affected areas in the first afforestation season is ensured, and then, if it is necessary to sort in order of importance, erosion areas, rehabilitation areas (destroyed forest areas) and state-owned state etc. plots are preferred. Although we tried to avoid socially problematic areas with animal grazing as much as possible in the past, due to the limited amount of state-owned land that can be afforested, it is necessary to start afforestation work in these areas by taking necessary protection measures. After this preliminary study in which the ownership and current status of the areas to be planted are examined, the determined lands are studied on-site and the land preparation (tillage) method suitable for the soil and geological structure of the land is determined and the tree types suitable for the land and soil structure are decided for sapling planting. Information, visual, map coordinates about the place to be planted this year and, if certain, next year? Afforestation facility is a difficult, costly and arduous activity due to the location of our country in the semi-arid-arid climate zone, severe drought and irregular bottom hits in rains. In some years and in some regions, all of the seedlings planted in some years and in some regions may dry out due to the bottom hits in the rain, and it may be necessary to make a completion work where new ones are planted in such places even in the following second and third season. As a matter of fact, in our country where the averageannual precipitation is around 250-300 mm, most of the saplings planted have dried up due to the precipitation average of 100-150 mm in the last 2016 precipitation period.

Most of the plantings to be made in the upcoming afforestation season will be made in the area destroyed by the forest fire in the summer months in the Geçitköy region, including the completion plantings to be made in the afforestation areas around Gaziler Village Tınazdağ region, Alayköy Border Line, Kırklar Village region, Hamitköy, Dikmen region and Famagusta Çanakkale Pond
